E-help for patients in making decisions about the choices they face on the field of infertility. The Self-help line “Ex patients to patients” was initiated in December 2010 and its mission is to help patients in making decisions about the choices they face on the field of infertility and in supporting them, no matter what the choices are. All e-volunteers are ex-patients who experienced issues of infertility treatment, adoption or conscious childlessness.
The project is dedicated to those who have no possibility to discuss their problem with the outside world because they can’t find understanding to such a sensitive and delicate issue.
E-volunteers cooperating with the self help-line support those who contact them by Skype, virtual communicator Gadu-Gadu, phone and by e-mail. They’re not allowed to give a psychological or medical counseling, but they can share their experience. They can also give information about standards and the official recommendations of the Polish Obstetrician Society. The e-volunteers are supervised by psychologists, they participate in trainings regularly and they communicate with each other through virtual platform. They are asked to choose 4-6 hours of service per week.
