GuideSign is an internet portal for tourists from Poland and abroad who wish to explore Warsaw. It provides information on interesting places, cultural and artistic events taking place in this city. What’s so special about this portal?
All necessary information about the city is available in form of video clips in the Polish Sign Language! This portal grants deaf people access to knowledge, due to them being at risk of getting excluded in terms of equal access to information. The polish language is their second language. Every single video on the website, www.guidesign.pl, has Polish subtitles. This project enables deaf people to learn a beautiful language, namely the Polish Sign Language; it also brings the world of sound and the world of silence together. The website is still being developed, so that all materials on it are available in the International Sign Language; the videos are going to be subtitled in English. It is also going to become a useful source of information for deaf tourists from abroad.
